Learning how to construct grammatically sentences is a necessary skill we need to possess. But in order to understand how these sentences work, we need to understand what the sentences actually are. The sentences work as a framework for us to properly express our thoughts and feelings in the form of words. Their beauty lies in their clarity, the choice of the words and how effectively the thought flows. The sentences convey more than meaning; they convey style.
Generally a sentence consists of two important constituents: structure and purpose. The entire language depends on the type of its sentences. We can play with our words, thoughts and ideas only when we know their various types.
The sentences consist of principal and secondary parts. The principal parts of the sentence are the subject and the predicate; and the secondary parts are the attribute, the object and the adverbial modifier.
The sentences are structural and semantic units which name real life situations and communicate definite messages. They are primary units of syntax expressing complete thoughts. They are also the most complex language units which consist of a number of elements connected by different types of syntactic and semantic relations.
The sentences have a communicative function in speech. The whole range of the language phenomena can be realized on the sentence level.
The aim of this study is to analyze the main types of the sentences in the English language.
